Overview: Tools And Hardware

The history of tools and hardware is as old as history of human civilization. Though an exact history of tools and hardware is difficult to figure out, studies have shown that tools were used even in the early Stone Age.  With the beginning of civilization, sophisticated tools and hardware were developed and today with advanced technology, there is a wide selection of hand tools in different shapes and sizes, to serve different purposes.  Most research scholars believe that the use of tools and hardware was an important step in the evolution of mankind.  The tools and hardware tell us about the society that made them. The more developed a society, the more tools and hardware it produces, and the more tools and hardware it uses. While discovering and inventing many new things, humans had evolved an opposable thumb, which was useful in holding tools, and increased dramatically in intelligence, which helped in the use of tools.

Before you buy a tool, there are a few things to consider. One is that the tool will do what you need it to do. You need to select the right tool for the right job. Don't use a screwdriver as a chisel or a ratchet as a hammer. This will destroy the tool and void any warranty it may have.  It's okay to buy an inexpensive tool, but never buy a cheap tool. A quality tool at a low price is a good deal. A poorly made tool will not only wind up costing more in the long run, but will make you work much harder than you have to and even cause bodily injury. Remember, "Quality is not expensive, it's priceless."  Look for a tool that has a lifetime warranty. Such tools are easy to find and let's face it, no matter how well made the tool is, someday it will break. When it does, it's nice to just bring it back and get a new one free of charge.  Look for a tool that has a chrome finish. This makes the tool easier to clean when you are done working and will protect the tool for a longer life.
