Do you hear the footsteps? Those are the giant steps of the Macintosh Computer. Check out the specifications on the latest iMac desktop. It comes with a 24-inch monitor, 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, 4 or 8 gigabytes of memory, 1 terabyte hard drive, GeForce GT 130 512MB Graphics Card, wireless mouse, video editing software, recording, editing, and mixing software, and quite a few other extras that puts extreme power and speed at your fingertips. It's really not much you cannot do with a Mac desktop computer. The one major difference in the PC and Mac is the Mac and its OS X Operating System. The 10th version of the Macintosh Operating System does not crash, nor does it contract viruses or malware. This sets it apart from Windows XP and Windows Vista. Microsoft Windows undoubtedly will create an Operating System to rival OS X, but until they do the gap between the two computers will continue to decrease. People are looking for speed, consistency, and computing power. The PC is adequate in this area but the novelty of the Mac, even though it's not new, has peaked the interest of the world. This is not to say that the Mac desktop will make the PC obsolete, by no means. However, we are fast approaching the time when you're looking at about a 50-50 split. Actually the competition between the two is great for the consumer because it's driving prices down. If you're technical support, working from home, or 9-5 for corporate America, you should have both a Mac and the PC sitting on your desk (although it's unlikely corporate America will provide you with both).
