Overview: rings

Of all of the pieces of jewelry that have ever been worn or made, rings have probably become not only the most common but also the ones with the most meanings. History tells us that rings were first worn by the people of Egypt. For the Egyptians social class and rank were very important. They wore different rings in order to show their stature. Over time rings have come a long way from that. Rings are very symbolic of many things and are also just worn simply for their style and appearance. Some of the rings that hold meaning are wedding rings, engagement rings, promise rings, mother's rings, purity rings, and friendship rings. These are traditional types of rings in many different countries. The wedding ring of course symbolizes that you are married. The engagement ring is given as a promise of marriage. Friendship rings are often times worn by two people who are dear friends. Mother's rings are often worn as a badge of honor of a mom. These display a symbolic stone for each child that they have. Purity rings and promise rings are usually worn as a symbol of staying pure until married. They signify a person's promise to God or even their parents. There are so many different meanings to a ring, you can learn a great deal about a person by what type of rings that they wear.

There are also rings that people wear simply because of the way that they look. They are that little piece of extra style that can make a person adore them. Rings are often times wore with a certain outfit. Most people own at least one ring of some kind in their jewelry collection. Rings can cost anywhere from a few hundred to several thousand dollars each. You can even purchase costume rings that only cost a few dollars. This little piece of jewelry is quite possibly the one piece that nearly all people own. Studies have shown that ninety percent of people wear some kind of ring every day of their life. Some people will even go to their grave wearing a ring of some kind. This is definitely one piece of jewelry that is sure to be around for a very long time. It could even be around for all of eternity with its popularity and appeal. There will never be another thing that became as important as a ring.
